2008 Presidential Race
July 29, 2007 by Kelly.
I kinda like one candidate in particular… you can probably guess who it is… Mike Huckabee. From what I’ve read and viewed, he shares many of the same beliefs that my husband and I share.
And he’s got a catchy name, don’t you think? ![]()

My Campers are Home
July 27, 2007 by Kelly.
I’m a little disappointed, though, at what they’ve said they experienced at camp. I thought church camp was a place with more structure, more focusing on God and getting fired-up for Him. I wasn’t expecting shaving cream on pillows (which I’ll probably have to throw away because they get so yucky after you wash them) or personal belongings on rooftops.
I know not all camps are like this, since my oldest went to a different camp last month and didn’t seem to have this kind of experience. My third son is saying he wants to go to camp next year… I’ll probably push for Bogg Springs instead of Cedar Hills!

To Write, or Not to Write
July 24, 2007 by Kelly.
Christians are cheap. I know that sounds cold and cruel, but it’s true. And I’m one of them! If I can swap services, instead of paying money, I will. If I can get someone to volunteer to do something, I will. And if I feel led to do something for no pay, I will. I’m feeding into the fad, I know. I am often approached by small homeschool newsletter editors asking if they can reprint my articles. Sure! I’ve been published in Canada, New York, Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, California and, of course, Oklahoma. I’ve been published in various e-newsletters, too. It’s thrilling to see your name in print, and to know people are reading and gleaning from your words. I certainly hope they are seeing Jesus in me!
I’ll keep writing, and I’ll keep giving my free stuff away as reprints. I’m hoping to write some new stuff for our large group newsletter (CHEF of OK), and then I can give those away as reprints, too. I spent a day last month with three magazines and a spiral. I wrote down the cover snippets and then reworded them to be homeschooling-related titles. I have a long list of possible articles to write now!

Welcome!
July 19, 2007 by Kelly.
Thanks for stopping by and viewing my blog. I’m not sure where I’ll go with this blog right now, as I have two others I’m trying to keep up with. Because those two are both specific to Weaver Curriculum, I do not post chatty notes there. I try to keep it all related to Weaver. But, here, on this blog, I can get chatty!
For those who do not yet know me, I’d like to share a little about myself. I’m the mother of five, wife of one, child of God who probably sits near you in Sunday school. Or maybe you’ve seen me shopping at Walmart, or Hobby Lobby. I live just down the street. I get so excited when my children accomplish something–sometimes I even get teary-eyed–and my heart hurts when they hurt, either physically or emotionally–and I almost always get teary-eyed.
I love to write. I’m told I write just like I talk. I didn’t know there was any other way to write! I also like to figure out puzzles, like jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, word searches, and Websites. “But wait,” you say. “Websites are not puzzles!” Have you ever tried to put one together?! They are a huge puzzle, which can turn into just about any picture you want it to be–and the owner sometimes doesn’t know what he or she wants until it’s finished. I love the challenge! I love getting to know the people behind the puzzle.
If you’d like to see some of the sites I’ve done, you can do so at my HOMEWriter site. Perhaps seeing the sites will help you to see some of my creativity, and then you’ll get to know me a little better. I’m glad you stopped by, and I hope you come back again soon so we can get to know each other better! Leave me a comment and let me know you’ve been here.

Almost Done!
July 17, 2007 by Kelly.
Our dining room is going to look SO fabulous when we’re finished! I can’t wait to start decorating in there when all the painting is done. I want to put two hammocks on the walls, and maybe more of the Brazil stuff. I may place some doilies around the room, too. I think I may get some tropical bird material for valances.

Heat or Hormones?
July 17, 2007 by Kelly.
Possibly both… I just feel so discouraged today. Why am I such a messy housekeeper, Lord?! My mom certainly isn’t. I’m just so tired… it’s easier to work at the computer and ignore the mess. But that’s not the way to teach my children, is it?
I need to get up more, walk around more, be physically active more. But, I can make money sitting at my computer, creating and maintaining Web sites.
I need to seek God more, too. The only thing keeping me from my quiet time is ME!

Someday…
July 13, 2007 by Kelly.
I’ve spent this past week getting more familiar with the Homestead SiteBuilder program. I have a client who has a site there, and it’s been a learning experience, to say the least. Seems no two companies can use the same software… guess they all want to be better, and unique. Not that I blame them–that’s human nature. It stretches my brain, and that’s a good thing, really.
This same client passed my name onto another person, and I’ve been in contact with him about doing his site as well. He said it’s a “Google” site… I’m not sure if he means a blog, or some free space at Google, or what, so once again it will be a learning curve.
I remember my very first site, through GeoCities, which has since been absorbed by Yahoo. They had their own software for creating sites, which I used, but then I started viewing the source code of other sites. That lead me to learn HTML and coding sites manually. I still like to tweak coding when I need to, but now I use DreamWeaver to create many of the sites I do.
Which reminds me… I need to update our family site! I slapped a photo up a couple weeks ago and haven’t touched it since. I need to talk to Jef and see what he wants to do with the site. Maybe I should put a blog there, too, so my in-laws can post pictures? I’ll discuss that with them today!
And, of course, I’ll be in prayer about how God wants me to proceed. It is purely His grace that keeps me creative.
